Mobin Tawakkul is Director of Communications for Global Deaf Muslim. He created the Disability Needs & Awareness Working Group (DNA-WG) for a non-profit organization called American Muslim Health Professionals (AMHP). His goals for DNA-WG is to empower the Muslim community to assist and serve the needs of individuals with disabilities within the ethical framework grounded in Islamic tradition. He is profoundly deaf who relies on the cochlear implant device. He still relies on lip reading skills alongside with his implant device. He hopes to learn & apply ASL in the future as he grew up in the oral deaf schooling program. He makes a living focusing on drug product quality issues for the Food & Drug Administration in the Metro Washington DC Area.
